Here's another new song that we've done a rough recording of. Several changes are taking place in our practice and performance structure which will soon transfer to our recording as well. Here are some rough demos of new songs we're working on for an upcoming release (full-length) probably to be released late Spring, early Summer. They don't have live drums on them yet, but don't worry, our newest member, Eric will definitely have a shot at banging the skins on the final versions. Also, when we record guitars in a place big enough to turn them up they'll feel a little warmer. Ha, like you even care!

So it turns out we've been nominated for some local awards in Fort Wayne's WHATZUP magazine and you can vote for us online. Not too worry, if you're a fan of multiple bands in the area you can probably vote for all of them as the nomination categories are quite subdivided. Our main categories are Best New Performer and Best Local CD Release, so show us some love, get out there and vote, and feel free to vote for Lee Miles or Zephaniah in any category we're not nominated for. Seriously.

Well, not much to report on from our camp the last few weeks. Actually, not too much to report on right now, either. Holidays are upon us, and the only news is that by Spring 2009 at the latest there should be a new release from Wooden Satellites. Stay tuned, we'll leak demos here first.

Wooden Satellites is an independent band in Fort Wayne, Indiana

It started out with C.Ray Harvey and Andrea Harvey finding a way to keep playing the songs they had written in their previous band. Jon Keller, a member of that previous band, decided to continue playing guitar with them. As C.Ray began recording the songs and writing new ones to fill an album, it was decided that they should hook up with a drummer to help them perform live. Eric Frank was a friend of C.Ray's that also had an accomodating practice space, so it was decided that he should make the fourth member of the band. In early 2009, Steve Spears joined the band to cover more of the keyboard duties so that C.Ray could play more bass and Andrea could sing more of the songs.

The name Wooden Satellites was cast off by another musician who wasn't going to use it so the band took it, feeling that it best described the sound they were making.

Towards the end of Summer, C.Ray got very serious about finishing an album, so he spent most of August 2008 recording a debut, "Why Can't I Be Enough." The lyrical content of the album deals mainly with sacred characters and religious ideas explained with heavy doses of vulnerability and inadequacy. Musically it meshes classic pop songwriting with heavy rhythms, retro-synthesizers, and acoustic guitars.

In October 2008 the band played a couple of shows to start promoting the album, and on October 18 the band released "Why Can't I Be Enough" to local and online music stores. They are now a part of a co-op music label called Sixty Years War that involves other great local artists and some that have travelled far outside the area.

Wooden Satellites will continue playing shows as well as writing and recording material to fill another album. Check out our myspace page for upcoming shows or our label page to order the debut album "Why Can't I Be Enough.
